Latest and a Question
Duval went down to 4-1 defeat only saved by our Golden couple Jan & Dave
And Johns and my fingers went prune like.
Thursdays game at St
Faiths was the worst I and others have played, nothing what soever to
do with the opposing team I hasten to add.
![]() |
| Anyone know where the Cohonett is ? |
Great score!
The piste we where on
apart from being covered with weeds and grass turned into a sea of
mud with mutterings of the Somme must have been like this trench foot
also came up. We did not draw circles but puddles with questions is
this our puddle? and we had floating Cohonettes (Jacks) that also
disappeared in the gloom. The light just didn’t fade it was
switched off. We huddled in corners, under umbrellas wherever we
could find a reasonably dry spot scurried out to throw then back
again.And Johns and my fingers went prune like.
But once again our
teams lack of a Shooter/s was evident we fell victim the the dreaded
Cluster scores that being 4 or more boules to the opposing team. As
Private Frazer said we where DOOMED.
Also nice to see our old friend the Wombats!
Imagine this, two
boules one yours the other the opposition the cosh is next to yours
as you walk away the cosh floats away to the other boule oo
~~~~ oo what
is the rule on this?. Just curious.
Thursday update.
Well, the Vikings where triumphant they beat Duval with a 3-2 win. Mainly with 3 clumps that knocked the wind out of Duval. Ronnie has come on a lot since the Shelfanger days his shooting is very good. Once the grin sets in you know you are in trouble.
Well done Duval
Duval managed a win over the Muttons. 3-2 Again only one point in it.
Duval is now 2nd in the league.
Friday, 1 April 2011
The first one.
The first game of the season went well. Duval beat its arch rivals Vikings 3-2. We had a little scare because some of our best players where away at their château. You know the one where they keep the painting by Van Klomp of the Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies. Anyway it was very nice to see Joan her first game and to welcome Dave back into the fold. Yoshi who had not played since last year was on top form. Jan was her bubbly self which always spreads joy.
Details of last week's games.
IN THE First Norfolk Petanque League game
of the summer season Diss Waveney clubs
two third division teams were drawn against
each other to play on their home terrain at
Brewers Green Lane in a closely-fought match
last Thursday evening.
Diss Vikings' Ken Roberts, Bendt Hansen
and Tony Bigley lost their first triples match
by just one point.
In a hard-fought game, Peter Turner, Dave .
Marsh and Yoshi Shinagawa, representing
Diss Duval, came from behind to take the
game by the narrow margin of 13-12.
Diss Duval's all women’s line-up of Jan
Barsby, Margaret Haunton and Joan Brown
were beaten 13-11 by Vikings all-male side of
Robin Coe, Ronnie Bartram and Dave Booth
in another close game.
Both Duval and the Vikings each won a
doubles match in the next leg, leaving the
final doubles game to decide the outcome of
the evening.
The Duval partnership of Jan Barsby and
Dave Marsh took four points in the final end
to beat Robin Coe and Dave Booth by 13-8.
The overall result showed again how close
the evenings games had been Duval gaining
a total of 55 points with Vikings just one
behind on 54 points. A
HOXNE Swan had to withstand a strong
comeback fram Framsden Doberman to
maintain their winning start to the Suffolk
Coastal Petanque League season on Sunday
Steve Penny and Derek Sutton got the hosts
off to a flyer with a 13-4 success and the result
was repeated by Denise Collins and Jackie
Johnson.All looked well with Chris Johnson and Iris
Sutton 13-5 up and Collins and Ian Lelliott 10-
4 up ahead in the second round but then the
visitors started their comeback.
Sue and Mike Smith were unlucky to
lose 13-10 but novices Hollie and Christine
Schofield played superbly to take a 13-10 win
to spoil Hoxne's clean sweep in a 3-1 (49-31)
victory I
