The first one.

The first game of the season went well. Duval beat its arch rivals Vikings 3-2. We had a little scare because some of our best players where away at their château. You know the one where they keep the painting by Van Klomp of the Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies. Anyway it was very nice to see Joan her first game and to welcome Dave back into the fold. Yoshi who had not played since last year was on top form. Jan was her bubbly self which always spreads joy.
Unfortunately Diss Express does not have link that I can use so had to scan.
Details of last week's games.
IN THE First Norfolk Petanque League game
of the summer season Diss Waveney clubs
two third division teams were drawn against
each other to play on their home terrain at
Brewers Green Lane in a closely-fought match
last Thursday evening.
Diss Vikings' Ken Roberts, Bendt Hansen
and Tony Bigley lost their first triples match
by just one point.
In a hard-fought game, Peter Turner, Dave .
Marsh and Yoshi Shinagawa, representing
Diss Duval, came from behind to take the
game by the narrow margin of 13-12.
Diss Duval's all women’s line-up of Jan
Barsby, Margaret Haunton and Joan Brown
were beaten 13-11 by Vikings all-male side of
Robin Coe, Ronnie Bartram and Dave Booth
in another close game.
Both Duval and the Vikings each won a
doubles match in the next leg, leaving the
final doubles game to decide the outcome of
the evening.

The Duval partnership of Jan Barsby and
Dave Marsh took four points in the final end
to beat Robin Coe and Dave Booth by 13-8.
The overall result showed again how close
the evenings games had been Duval gaining
a total of 55 points with Vikings just one
behind on 54 points. A

HOXNE Swan had to withstand a strong
comeback fram Framsden Doberman to
maintain their winning start to the Suffolk
Coastal Petanque League season on Sunday
Steve Penny and Derek Sutton got the hosts
off to a flyer with a 13-4 success and the result
was repeated by Denise Collins and Jackie
Johnson. All looked well with Chris Johnson and Iris
Sutton 13-5 up and Collins and Ian Lelliott 10-
4 up ahead in the second round but then the
visitors started their comeback.
Sue and Mike Smith were unlucky to
lose 13-10 but novices Hollie and Christine
Schofield played superbly to take a 13-10 win
to spoil Hoxne's clean sweep in a 3-1 (49-31)
victory I

Unfortunately the game against Bob Carter Center has been canceled due to  BCC being unable to muster a team.Watch this space.
